Balancing riparian corridor enhancement with public access and recreation, the Uvas Creek trail system is treasured by City residents. Bellinger Foster Steinmetz prepared a Master Plan and design documents to extend the trail 3 miles along Uvas Creek. Recently completed trail improvements accommodated Gilroy’s “Safe Route to School” policy in conjunction with a new middle school. The trail project included bioswales along frontage street, bridge undercossing, bridge and street crossing connections and floodway analysis to replace levee rip-rap with vegetated slopes for mitigation.
