Healing Garden, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, CA
Access to the natural environment for patients, visitors, and staff is a key health objective for the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP). To maximize patient room visual access and diversity, the Healing Garden includes a forest hillside planting and cascading water elements. In addition to these, the central water feature, framed by groves of quaking aspen, is a focal point to the day room at three different floors as well as several patient rooms. A courtyard at mid-level is an accessible space with seatwalls, tables and chairs, and a reflecting pool with a koi fish mural.
