Former military parking lots were converted into an outdoor recreation facility by CSUMB. Existing facilities, utility access, concurrent planning for a private school and shared use of Army property were some of the issues faced in evaluating the site’s long range development capability.
In 1999, Bellinger Foster Steinmetz prepared a site development Master Plan for CSUMB with cost analysis, phasing and construction documents. First phase improvements included two soccer fields and parking lot which were completed within budget and on schedule for the Fall 2000 soccer season.
Currently, Bellinger Foster Steinmetz is involved in refining the Master Plan and preparing construction documents for a phase two project with multiple natural and synthetic turf fields. Tennis and basketball courts will be constructed north of the stadium. The existing stadium track and field will also be renovated in subsequent phases. The project has a $3 million budget and is slated for completion in Spring 2006.
